State of the Nation Address- President Tebboune: Responding to the Call of Millions of Algerians for National Progress

ALGIERS- In his address to the nation before members of the Parliament, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune revealed the motivations behind his initiative to address the nation, emphasizing the need to collectively assess the achievements and commitments of the nation.
President Tebboune stated that these objectives were the very reasons why the Algerian people, in February 2019, called for change, exemplifying a peaceful and civilized expression of their firm determination to end the dangerous crisis that tested the country’s institutions.
Highlighting the political decline and economic and social deterioration that prevailed before February 2019, President Tebboune remarked that these conditions nearly destroyed the foundations of the nation. However, the concerted efforts of the proud Algerian people and the cohesion between the people and the People’s National Army thwarted the plans of conspirators and rekindled the dream of establishing a new republic proud of its past and oriented towards the future.
Faced with the urgency of the situation, President Tebboune felt compelled to respond to the call of millions of Algerians who demanded the salvation of the country. In this spirit, he pledged to the people, who entrusted him with their confidence, that he would tirelessly work towards the establishment of a new republic.
While implementing this program, numerous challenges arose, starting with the health crisis and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. President Tebboune noted that remnants of the “gang” employed various tactics, creating artificial shortages to destabilize the nation and undermine trust between citizens and the state.
President Tebboune emphasized that no effort was spared in implementing the program, ranging from constitutional reforms to establish the rule of law to economic reforms and the consolidation of the social character of the state. Despite the challenges, the President’s commitment remains unwavering, reflecting a dedication to steering Algeria towards a path of progress and resilience.
