Algiers, Algeria | December 7th, 2024 —The El-Bina Movement has expressed its profound appreciation for the outcomes of the historic state visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to Algeria. This landmark visit culminated in the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding, paving the way for a strategic partnership aimed at crafting a “New Africa” grounded in cooperation, integration, and the shared vision of sustainable and inclusive development.

In an official statement, El-Bina Movement President Abdelkader Bengrina emphasized that this visit marks a pivotal juncture in strengthening Algerian-South African relations. He highlighted Algeria’s enduring role as a beacon for global freedom movements and a steadfast advocate of justice and human rights.

Bengrina underscored the symbolic importance of President Ramaphosa’s address to the Algerian Parliament, a historic venue that once hosted global icons of liberation struggles. This gesture, he noted, signals the dawn of a renewed era of African solidarity and cooperation.

The El-Bina leader drew parallels between Algeria and South Africa, noting their shared legacies of resistance against colonialism and unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy and genuine diplomacy. He stressed that the two nations’ alignment on key African and global issues—especially their staunch support for Palestine and the right to self-determination for the Sahrawi people—reinforces their shared aspirations for a united and self-reliant Africa.

In his statement, Bengrina also praised Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s decision to bestow the National Order of Merit (Athir Class) upon President Ramaphosa. This prestigious honor, he said, is a testament to Ramaphosa’s unwavering commitment to defending human values, particularly his courageous efforts in exposing the crimes against humanity committed against the Palestinian people under Israel’s apartheid policies.

Bengrina called on African nations to draw inspiration from the burgeoning Algerian-South African partnership. He urged the continent’s dynamic forces to seize this opportunity to foster deeper cooperation and accelerate collective progress toward a comprehensive developmental renaissance.

Moreover, El-Bina Movement reaffirmed its unwavering support for Algeria’s strategic initiatives, including its commendable stance on reforming international institutions, particularly the United Nations Security Council. Such reforms, Bengrina asserted, are essential to rectifying historical injustices and ensuring that oppressed nations can exercise their right to self-determination.

Concluding his statement, Bengrina lauded Algeria’s visionary leadership and the steadfast resolve of its people. He emphasized that Algeria has emerged as a sovereign powerhouse, championing the rights of nations and standing as a bulwark against regional and global challenges.

Through this renewed Algerian-South African partnership, El-Bina envisions a brighter future where Africa transcends its colonial past, embraces its shared identity, and marches confidently toward unity, prosperity, and justice for all.
