Algiers, Algeria | November 16th, 2024 — On Thursday, the historic House of Lords in London hosted an important meeting dedicated to strengthening Algerian-British relations. This annual event, organized by the Algerian-British Business Council (ABBC), brought together prominent political figures, business leaders, and economic representatives from both countries. Baroness Symons, former Minister of State for Trade and Foreign Affairs, and current Chair of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, spoke passionately about Algeria’s evolving economy. She noted that the country’s economic landscape is undergoing modernization and diversification, creating a conducive environment for business. Baroness Symons also pointed out that Algeria’s new investment code offers a variety of fiscal incentives, positioning the country as an increasingly attractive partner for British businesses.
“The time is ripe for revitalizing our bilateral relations,” she stated, emphasizing the potential for greater collaboration between the two nations in sectors such as trade, investment, and technology.
The discussion also addressed the growing opportunities for British companies in Algeria’s dynamic market, which is undergoing rapid transformation, particularly in sectors like energy, infrastructure, and technology. Participants at the meeting highlighted the importance of establishing long-term partnerships that can drive mutual growth and economic prosperity.
The event underscored the broader strategic goals of Algeria and the United Kingdom to build deeper economic, political, and cultural ties.
