Strengthening Algerian-Turkish Parliamentary Relations: A Strategic Dialogue for Bilateral Cooperation

ALGIERS- Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Mr. Brahim Boughali, welcomed the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Fuat Oktay, and his accompanying delegation at the APN headquarters on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed various aspects of cooperation between the two sisterly countries within the framework of efforts to solidify the strategic approach to bilateral relations initiated by the leaders of Algeria and Turkey, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mr. Boughali emphasized the necessity of promoting parliamentary relations between the two countries, particularly through intensified bilateral visits, to support the existing rapprochement between the governments of both nations in various domains.
The discussions also highlighted the convergence of views on issues of common interest, including the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes, as well as the situations in Libya and the African Sahel.
In this context, Speaker Boughali denounced the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people, criticizing the indifference of influential countries worldwide and their blatant bias in favor of the Zionist occupation.
He reiterated Algeria’s unwavering commitment, within its mandate at the United Nations Security Council, to tirelessly seek a solution to the genocide and blockade imposed on the Palestinian people, reaffirming Algeria’s foreign policy principles based on respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and support for the right to self-determination.
For his part, Mr. Fuat Oktay expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation and Turkey’s readiness to enhance joint coordination for the benefit of both brotherly peoples.
The Turkish official also called for expanding relations into other areas, noting Algeria’s recent legislative reforms in investment and industrial land laws.
Mr. Oktay highlighted the presence of 1,500 Turkish companies operating in Algeria, underscoring Turkey’s interest in investing in its brotherly nation. He also emphasized Turkey’s efforts to explore cooperation beyond traditional trade exchanges, particularly in military industry, agriculture, healthcare, and renewable energies.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, Mr. Oktay emphasized the need for genuine political action to accelerate the resolution of the issues faced by the Palestinian people, calling for urgent implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions and International Court of Justice decisions to address the genocide and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the occupying entity.
