Algiers, Algeria | January 14th, 2025 — On Tuesday, Algeria’s Minister of Communication, Mohamed Maziane, received Jordan’s Ambassador to Algeria, Shaker Atallah Al-Amoush, to discuss the enduring and robust ties between the two nations and explore avenues for further enhancing collaboration in the fields of media and communication. The meeting underscored the shared commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the realm of media exchange and joint initiatives.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Communication highlighted the “transformative leap” in Algerian-Jordanian relations, especially following the landmark state visit of King Abdullah II of Jordan to Algeria in December 2022. This visit resulted in the signing of several agreements, particularly in the media sector, which set the stage for a new era of cooperation between the two countries.
One of the key agreements forged during this visit was the memorandum of understanding between the Algerian News Agency (APS) and its Jordanian counterpart, marking a significant step towards enhancing mutual media collaboration. The diplomatic discussions held on Tuesday also explored the possibility of exchanging media content and programs, with a particular focus on creating joint productions between Algeria and Jordan. With the holy month of Ramadan approaching, both sides expressed their desire to embark on cooperative media projects that would cater to the cultural and spiritual interests of both nations.
The Jordanian Ambassador further extended an invitation to Minister Maziane to open channels for cooperation in media training. Ambassador Al-Amoush emphasized the importance of organizing specialized training courses, with the participation of key players in the media sector, to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience. Such initiatives, he noted, would provide a valuable platform for both Algeria and Jordan to share best practices, build expertise, and elevate their media sectors.
This dialogue reinforces the growing partnership between Algeria and Jordan, as both nations work together to enhance their media landscapes and foster a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures, values, and aspirations.
