Algiers, Algeria | June 3rd, 2024 — Algeria and Norway are set to enhance their cooperation in the development of women’s football. The President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Walid Sadi, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Algeria, Therese H. Loken Gheziel, discussed key initiatives to boost this partnership during a meeting in Algiers.

In a cordial meeting at the FAF headquarters, Walid Sadi and Therese H. Loken Gheziel explored various aspects of collaboration, focusing on the development of women’s football and specialized training. The discussion underscored the mutual commitment to promote women’s football at all levels and improve training programs for coaches and players.

Cooperation Agreement between Federations

This meeting follows the signing of a cooperation agreement in February, when Sadi met with Hans Andreas Finstad, Special Advisor to the President of the Norwegian Football Federation, and Haybat Hacham, Head of International Cooperation. The agreement aims to advance the development of women’s football in both countries.

The FAF highlighted the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing the shared dedication to promoting football across all levels, with a special focus on women’s football. Following the agreement, a training camp for coaches specializing in women’s football was held in Biskra in April. This camp specifically targeted coaches working with young girls under the age of 12, providing them with essential skills and knowledge to nurture the next generation of female footballers.

Future Initiatives and Training Programs

The partnership between Algeria and Norway aims to create a robust framework for developing women’s football, including more training camps, exchange programs, and development workshops. These initiatives are designed to improve the technical and tactical skills of players and coaches, ensuring they meet international standards.
