ALGIERS- Today in Jeddah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister in charge of managing affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Taher Al-Ba’our.

This bilateral meeting took place prior to the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ participation in the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Attaf and Al-Ba’our exchanged views on the proceedings of the extraordinary session, which focused on discussing the ongoing extermination war against the Palestinian people and examining ways for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to intensify its efforts to end Israeli aggression.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the cooperative and fraternal relations between Algeria and Libya and explore prospects for strengthening them in the context of upcoming bilateral events, particularly by realizing projects aimed at enhancing communication between the two peoples and brotherly countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.

Both ministers also discussed the situation in the region and developments in Libya.

In this context, officials emphasized the need to enhance coordination at the regional and continental levels.

It is noteworthy that Algeria and Libya are working to enhance consultation and coordination to address the region’s challenges.

On the sidelines of the gas-exporting countries summit, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held a tripartite meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Saied, and the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Younes El Menfi. During this meeting, the establishment of quarterly meetings among the three Maghreb countries was announced, with the first one scheduled to take place in Tunisia after Ramadan.
