Shenzhen, China – In a groundbreaking state visit, the President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, visited two tech giants in China – BYD and Huawei. The visit, part of his official trip to the People’s Republic of China, marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between the two nations and signals Algeria’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies for its development.

President Tebboune’s visit to BYD, a renowned electric vehicle manufacturer, and Huawei, a leading global technology company, showcased Algeria’s eagerness to forge stronger ties in the fields of electric mobility, disaster prevention, and digitization in various sectors.

During his tour of the BYD facilities, President Tebboune was given an in-depth explanation of the cutting-edge technologies employed in the production of electric cars. The President took the opportunity to underscore Algeria’s open-door policy for foreign investors, extending a warm welcome to car manufacturers and emphasizing the country’s potential to become a hub for automotive production, given its strategic location in Africa and proximity to Europe.

In his meeting with Huawei’s visionary founder, Mr. Ren Zhengfei, President Tebboune highlighted Algeria’s investment-friendly environment for foreign companies. He also expressed a keen interest in Huawei’s advanced alert systems and disaster prevention solutions, with a particular focus on incorporating them into the development of new Algerian cities.

Moreover, the President’s engagement with Huawei extended to the domain of education. President Tebboune affirmed the Algerian government’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies into education and teaching programs, acknowledging the pivotal role technology plays in shaping the workforce of tomorrow.
