Strengthening Economic, Trade Cooperation: 8th Session of Algeria-China Joint Committee in Beijing

ALGIERS- In Beijing, the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Tarek Belaribi, co-chaired the 8th session of the Algeria-China Joint Committee on Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation along with the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao.
The session’s discussions, as stated in an official release, focused on “efforts to maintain bilateral relations, which were reinforced during the state visit of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the People’s Republic of China in July last year.”
During the visit, President Tebboune and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, signed significant agreements leading to Chinese investments in Algeria exceeding $36 billion. These investments span various sectors, including industry, modern technologies, knowledge economy, transportation, and agriculture.
Both ministers expressed a commitment to further encourage initiatives based on direct investment within the framework of a mutually beneficial partnership.
Minister Belaribi expressed satisfaction with the willingness of both countries to extend their cooperation to the field of justice, as evidenced by the signing of joint legal documents.
Algeria-China cooperation encompasses vital sectors such as agriculture, energy, industry, healthcare, renewable energy, transportation, services, and basic infrastructure.
It’s noteworthy that the 8th session of the Algeria-China Joint Committee coincided with the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Additionally, the session provided an opportunity to sign a report that will serve as a cornerstone for bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
