Algiers, Algeria | June 5th, 2024 — Algérie Ferries, the state-owned maritime company, has announced significant changes to its ferry schedule between Algeria and Marseille due to a planned workers’ strike at the Port of Marseille. The strike, scheduled from June 4 to June 28, has necessitated adjustments to ensure minimal disruption for travelers.

In a statement on their official Facebook page, Algérie Ferries detailed the schedule changes affecting crossings between June 6 and June 10:

– Marseille to Algiers: The crossing initially scheduled for June 6 is postponed to June 7 at 12:00 PM. The June 8 crossing is rescheduled from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

– Marseille to Skikda: The crossing planned for June 7 at 5:00 PM is rescheduled to June 8 at 10:00 AM. The June 9 crossing will now depart at 11:00 AM instead of the originally scheduled 12:00 PM.

These modifications aim to accommodate the expected disruptions at the Port of Marseille and provide passengers with updated departure times. Algérie Ferries has expressed their commitment to maintaining service reliability despite the labor strike.

Passenger Guidance and Support

Algérie Ferries has urged passengers to stay informed about the latest schedule updates by following their official social media channels and website. The company is also providing customer support to assist travelers in adjusting their plans and addressing any concerns related to the schedule changes.

Passengers affected by the adjustments are advised to contact Algérie Ferries customer service for further information and assistance. The company has assured that all efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience and ensure travel plans can proceed as smoothly as possible.

Impact on Travel and Port Operations

The planned strike at the Port of Marseille is expected to impact various operations, including cargo handling and passenger services. The strike, called by port workers demanding better working conditions and addressing employment-related issues, is anticipated to affect not only ferry services but also other maritime operations during the strike period.

Algérie Ferries’ proactive approach in rescheduling the crossings is a measure to mitigate the strike’s impact on their services. The company, committed to providing reliable and efficient maritime transport between Algeria and Europe, aims to uphold service quality and passenger satisfaction.
