Surrender of a Terrorist, Arrest of 12 Support Elements: National Army Operations Yield Success in Counterterrorism, Border Security

ALGIERS- The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) announced in a statement on Wednesday the surrender of a terrorist and the arrest of 12 individuals supporting terrorist groups during operations conducted by the People’s National Army (ANP) across the country from December 6 to December 12.
According to the statement, the terrorist surrendered to military authorities in In Guezzam in the fifth military region, possessing an assault rifle of the Kalashnikov type and ammunition.
Furthermore, as part of the fight against drug trafficking and transborder crime, ANP units successfully arrested 47 drug traffickers and prevented attempts to smuggle 10 quintals and 38 kg of treated Hashish at the border areas with Morocco.
These joint operations with various security services also resulted in the seizure of 68,213 psychotropic tablets, the statement emphasized.
