Syndicate of Information Publishers hails President Tebboune’ stances in favor of professional journalism, announces initiative to establish federation of journalists, publishers

ALGIERS-  The National Bureau of the Information Publishers Syndicate, chaired by Riad Houili, held a meeting today, Wednesday, at the Tahar Djaout Press House in the capital, Algiers.

During the meeting, the Syndicate welcomed the stances of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in favor of professional journalism in Algeria.

The National Bureau expressed its appreciation for the invitation of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the media professionals to organize, the same request uttered by the institution that has urged professionals in the sector to organize as the only means to defend the profession and its gains.

On the same occasion, the Syndicate confirmed that “its efforts to organize the sector have never ceased since its establishment, as it has held many activities with the aim of reforming the sector and getting rid of unprofessional behavior.”

In this context, the National Bureau commends the role played by the Syndicate in order to enrich the draft media laws, in addition to the sensitization and mobilization campaigns organized with representatives and actors in the sector, the statement added.

The Information Publishers Syndicate announced an organizational initiative that will be an inclusive framework for professionals and a social partner, calling on accredited journalists’ unions and associations to unite in a federation that includes journalists and publishers and to form a liaison committee with organizations active in the sector.
