Syria, Algeria to boost bilateral ties in fields of oil, energy

Algeria, SANA– Syrian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Firas Kaddour was received by his Algerian counterpart Mohamed Arkab. Both sides discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and mining.

The two sides explored cooperation and investment opportunities in the hydrocarbons sector between the companies in the both countries as well as means of sharing expertise between the Algerian company of Sonatrach and the Syrian oil companies.

Main topics covered also dealt with investment opportunities in the energy sector, including the area of electricity generation, transmission and distribution in addition to other aspects of cooperation related to marketing oil and petroleum products and sharing expertise in the field of mining.

Syrian Minister Kaddour and the accompanying delegation also met officials of the Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and Algerian mines complexes, as well as visited some energy facilities.
