Temporary Suspension of Eastbound Train Services from Algiers Following Freight Wagon Derailment

ALGIERS- In a recent incident, the National Railway Transport Company (SNTF) reported the derailment of a freight wagon at approximately 12:30 PM on Saturday in the Corso region of Boumerdès province. Fortunately, no casualties or significant material losses were recorded. However, as a precautionary measure, the incident prompted a temporary suspension of railway traffic heading towards the eastern regions of Algiers.
A statement from SNTF explained that the derailment necessitated the temporary and exceptional halting of suburban trains bound for Algiers, Thénia, Boumerdès, and Tizi-Ouzou. During this period, these trains will make an unscheduled stop at El Harrach station. SNTF extends its sincere apologies to passengers affected by this disruption and assures them that specialized teams are actively engaged in the swift removal of the derailed wagon to restore normal railway operations as soon as possible.
