ALGIERS- Algeria strongly condemned the cowardly terrorist attack which targeted yesterday, Thursday, April 27, 2023, a military detachment of the army in the town of “Ougarou” (Province of Gourma) in the east of Burkina Faso. According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, the terrorist attack killed and injured dozens of members of the Burkinabe army.
In this regard, Algeria “expressed its condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured”. In this painful circumstance, Algeria reiterated “its full solidarity with the Government and the brotherly people of Burkina Faso”. The press release added that “Algeria affirms its firm determination to combat this scourge in all its forms and manifestations”.
It also calls on the entire international community to coordinate efforts to combat this phenomenon, which hinders the achievement of peace and development in the entire Sahel region and the African continent.
