The 14th Anniversary of the Alawi Holocaust: The Rif National Party Leads a Protest in Bilbao

A Renewed Call for Justice and Sovereignty in the Face of Political Repression

Algiers, Algeria | February 23rd, 2025 — On February 23, the Rif National Party organized a protest in the city of Bilbao to mark the 14th anniversary of the Alawi Holocaust, commemorating the brutal execution of five young Riffians. This demonstration, part of an ongoing campaign to highlight the political plight of the Riffian people, reinforced the party’s unwavering commitment to reclaiming sovereignty and exposing systematic oppression.

 

The event took place within the framework of a series of meetings orchestrated by the Rif National Party across the Bilbao region. Notably, the second major gathering, held in the Basque town of Ortuella, proved to be a resounding success. This meeting provided a crucial platform to shed light on the political dimensions of the Riffian cause, a perspective that remains the ideological cornerstone of the Rif National Party.

 

Yuba El-Ghadioui, President of the Rif National Party, emphasized that this gathering was a vital step in reviving the spirit of Riffian sovereignty. He underscored the unbroken thread of resistance stretching from the legendary anti-colonial leader Mohammed Ben Abdelkrim El-Khattabi to the present-day movement embodied by the Rif National Party.

 

In collaboration with the Spanish civil society organization “Alternatiba,” affiliated with the Spanish Republican Left coalition, the event featured two thought-provoking intellectual forums. These were led by Mohamed Douhri, a Riffian political refugee and the official representative of the Rif National Party in Spain. The discussions welcomed participation from representatives of various Spanish political parties and civil society organizations, further cementing international solidarity with the Riffian struggle.

 

The meeting saw profound discussions on the enduring challenges faced by the Riffian people. Participants reaffirmed the necessity of sustaining political resistance to restore legitimacy and dismantle the structures of oppression. The forum also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with other Riffian movements and garnering broader international support for the cause.

 

Through these efforts, the Rif National Party continues to challenge the political status quo and demand justice for past atrocities. The party remains resolute in its pursuit of sovereignty, dignity, and an end to historical and contemporary injustices inflicted upon the Riffian people.
