Algiers, August 31, 2023 – In a ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the dispatch of the Chinese medical team to Algeria, Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Li Jian, expressed unwavering confidence that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Algeria and China is poised to surge ahead continually.
Addressing the audience at the event, Ambassador Li Jian emphasized that this steadfast ascent is firmly rooted in the shared aspirations outlined by President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Xi Jinping. He further asserted that with the steadfast backing of both nations’ populations, the comprehensive strategic partnership is destined to flourish unceasingly.
Citing historical ties dating back to the National Liberation War and numerous bilateral cooperation agreements, Ambassador Li Jian articulated, “Algeria and China will forever stand as good brothers and close friends, united in propelling the construction of a more equitable and just international order.” Notably, he also highlighted the significance of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement established in 2014, a pioneering initiative that solidified China’s collaboration with an Arab nation in such a manner.
Ambassador Li Jian underscored that the sphere of medical cooperation serves as a microcosm of the broader collaboration between Algeria and China. Their long-standing relationship, extending across diverse sectors, is underpinned by shared goals and mutual respect.
Mr. Talhi Mohamed, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Health, acknowledged the profound value attributed to medical cooperation with China. He conveyed gratitude to the members of the Chinese medical teams who have contributed to Algeria’s healthcare landscape. Additionally, he announced the imminent launch of the 28th Chinese medical mission to Algeria, set to span from 2023 to 2027.
In her address, Mrs. Li Bin, President of the Association of Friendship between the Chinese People and the African Peoples, celebrated the positive trajectory of the alliance between China and Algeria. Highlighting Algeria’s pivotal role in the region, Mrs. Li Bin characterized the burgeoning medical cooperation as a paradigm of Algerian-Chinese collaboration. She asserted that this cooperative venture not only bolsters bilateral ties but also nurtures a profound camaraderie between the two nations and their respective citizenry.
As Algeria and China continue to foster their comprehensive strategic partnership, the prospects for elevated collaboration across sectors remain boundless. With diplomatic ties steeped in history and a shared commitment to global equity, the trajectory of this partnership is undoubtedly on a relentless rise.
