ALGIERS– In its recent issue, “El-Djeïch” magazine underscores Algeria’s enduring dedication to peaceful crisis resolution, emphasizing the nation’s continuous efforts to seek diplomatic solutions for Africa’s challenges. Algeria steadfastly champions the use of dialogue and diplomacy, distancing itself from military interventions, which have proven ineffective.

The magazine highlights Algeria’s relentless endeavors to unify African initiatives, striving to discover homegrown remedies for the continent’s issues while actively engaging in mechanisms designed for conflict prevention, management, and peaceful resolutions. These efforts stand in stark contrast to military interventions, which often exacerbate and complicate already precarious situations, as emphasized in the editorial.

According to “El-Djeïch,” these unwavering positions constitute the cornerstone of Algeria’s doctrine, stemming from its enduring principles that the nation has consistently advocated and defended. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reiterated this commitment during his speech on peace and security in Africa at the 36th session of the African Union’s Assembly of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa in February 2023.

The magazine reminds readers that President Tebboune firmly believes that resolving African crises should be based on peaceful means, global dialogue, and national reconciliation, devoid of foreign interference.

Furthermore, “El-Djeïch” reiterates Algeria’s determination to continually and tirelessly contribute to international peace and security efforts while supporting initiatives aimed at conflict resolution. The review underscores Algeria’s resolve to champion the just causes of nations striving for fundamental rights, freedom, and self-determination.

In this context, the magazine “El-Djeïch” highlighted Algeria’s significant role at both regional and international levels in promoting security and stability, particularly in neighboring countries. It emphasized Algeria’s continuous diplomatic efforts to address various complex issues and its assistance to brotherly and friendly nations, reinforcing the principle of good neighborly relations.

These endeavors have transformed Algeria into a pivotal force for regional stability and peace, guided by unwavering principles that include respect for international legitimacy, support for just causes, peaceful resolution of disputes, protection from external interference, and prevention of destabilization efforts. The review stressed that these positions have garnered universal respect, making Algeria a dependable and effective regional and international partner.

Additionally, the magazine referred to Army General Saïd Chanegriha, the Chief of Staff of the ANP, who, in his recent videoconference speech at the eleventh International Security Symposium in Moscow, expressed Algeria’s belief that the time has come for the global community to recognize the importance of preserving international security. This involves effectively managing the root causes of crises that fuel instability, leading to international and regional insecurity. Algeria advocated for the utmost adherence to international legitimacy and called for African countries to be supported in developing their own comprehensive solutions, allowing them to address continent-specific challenges independently and free from foreign interference or destabilizing attempts.

The ANP review also underscored Algeria’s full support for the peace process in Mali and its urging of Libyan parties to engage in a peaceful resolution of their crisis without external interference. Regarding the crisis in Niger, Algeria emphasized the necessity of pursuing peaceful and negotiated solutions while cautioning against the repercussions of a military intervention.

In this context, the review emphasized that the historical lessons in our region have consistently shown that military interventions tend to exacerbate problems rather than offer solutions. Such interventions often lead to increased conflicts and suffering, rather than promoting stability and security.

The review also confirmed Algeria’s commitment to prioritizing a diplomatic approach to address the ongoing constitutional crisis in Niger. Algeria has actively engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a political resolution. The goal is to shield our brotherly Niger from potential escalation and prevent the entire region from facing future risks and threats, including the resurgence of terrorism and various forms of crime that have plagued the region.

In addition to this prudent and rational foreign policy approach, the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP), inheritor of the legacy of the National Liberation Army (ALN), continues its unwavering dedication to achieving the highest levels of strength and operational readiness. The ANP remains resolute, driven by a strong sense of national duty, to execute its missions with professionalism and efficiency. These missions encompass securing our national borders, combating the remnants of terrorism, and cutting off its financial resources tied to organized crime, such as smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and arms trade. This was the central message of the review’s conclusion.
