ALGIERS- On Friday, thousands of Moroccans took to the streets in protests and marches across several cities in the kingdom, marking a “Day of Anger” to condemn Morocco’s ongoing normalization with the Zionist entity and the betrayal of the Palestinian cause.

These demonstrations coincide with the third anniversary of the “Exchange Deal” and the signing of the tripartite agreement between Morocco, the United States, and the Zionist entity. The agreement, which reestablished diplomatic ties between Rabat and the occupied entity, aimed at securing former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Morocco’s alleged sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

As solidarity for the Palestinian cause grows globally, Moroccan citizens have been increasing pressure on authorities to cease all dealings with the Zionist occupation. This includes calls for the closure of the so-called “Zionist communication office” in Rabat.

Approximately 100 protests were organized in 56 Moroccan cities under the banner “With Palestine, Against Normalization” as part of the “Friday of Anger 11” activities, according to the Moroccan Association for Advocacy of National Causes, the organizing entity.

Protesters demanded the closure of the “Zionist communication office,” the expulsion of Zionists, and the reversal of normalization agreements. They also urged the Moroccan government to take a clear stance in support of Palestinians and denounce the Zionist war on Gaza, which resulted in over 20,000 casualties, mostly women and children.

In the capital, Rabat, activists gathered in a protest in front of the parliament building, demanding the annulment of normalization agreements and the closure of the “Zionist communication office.”

Participants raised Palestinian flags and banners with messages such as “Moroccan people demand the expulsion of the terrorist communication office from Rabat and the annulment of all normalization agreements” and “Normalization is a crime and betrayal.” During the protest, demonstrators burned the flag of the Zionist entity as a symbolic gesture.

The protesters also submitted a petition calling for the expulsion of the representative of the “Zionist communication office” from Rabat and the cancellation of all normalization agreements.

Aziz Hanaoui, the Secretary-General of the “National Action Group for Palestine,” stated that the protest in front of the Moroccan parliament was part of ongoing activities supporting Palestinian resistance against the Zionist aggression. He emphasized the demand to halt the farce that cost Morocco dearly in exchange for nothing.

“Our demand today is to stop this charade in which Morocco paid a high price for nothing. The relationship with the criminal terrorist entity, which can only bring harm, including killing, terrorism, destruction, targeting hospitals, mosques, El Quds, and Al-Aqsa, resulting in the deaths of thousands of children and women, is a fundamentally rejected relationship,” said Hanaoui.
