ALGIERS- Four (4) advanced firefighting posts will be put into service at the beginning of June next in Tizi Ouzou, as part of the wilaya’s forest firefighting system, Ennaharonline reported on Monday quoting the local Civil Protection directorate.

These advanced firefighting posts responsible for intervening immediately after the announcement of a fire will also be installed at the level of the primary schools belonging to the communes of Ait Yahia Moussa, Meklaa, Maatka, and Iferhounen, which are classified as zones highly exposed to the risk of fires, according to the same source.

“These posts will be equipped with human and material resources belonging to the mobile division of the Civil Protection, which will play a key role in the fight against the fires,” added the same source.

A helicopter landing strip, equipped for transporting helicopters, should also be completed, in addition to a runway for “Canadars” planes which use seawater to extinguish fires.
