Algiers, Algeria | December 8th, 2024 — In a landmark decision reflecting Algeria’s commitment to supporting its citizens, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, during which significant increases in both the tourism and pilgrimage (Hajj) allowances were approved. The decision underscores the government’s proactive approach to enhancing financial accessibility for Algerians wishing to travel abroad, whether for leisure or spiritual purposes.
Under the new measures, the annual tourism allowance has been substantially increased to €750 per adult, granting greater opportunities for travel and exploration. For minors, the allocation is set at €300 annually, ensuring that families can plan international trips with more financial ease. This adjustment represents a pivotal move to align Algeria’s tourism support with the aspirations of its citizens and to bolster their ability to experience the world beyond its borders.
Similarly, a significant enhancement was announced for the pilgrimage allowance, with the allocation for Hajj increased to $1,000 per individual. This critical decision acknowledges the spiritual importance of the pilgrimage to Mecca and seeks to alleviate the financial burden for Algerians undertaking this religious journey.
President Tebboune’s initiative reflects a deep understanding of the needs of Algerians, affirming the state’s commitment to facilitating both personal enrichment and religious obligations.
