Towards a Comprehensive Political Resolution: El Bina Movement Advocates for Inclusive Peace in Syria

Algiers, Algeria | December 9th, 2024 — Amid the escalating complexities of the Syrian crisis, El Bina Movement has issued a resolute call for a comprehensive political resolution based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254. This framework seeks to ensure the active participation of all Syrian factions and components that renounce violence, fostering an inclusive process without marginalization or exclusion, and aiming to rebuild the state on stable and just foundations.

In a statement released on Monday, the movement underscored the urgency of an immediate and total cessation of military operations, which continue to exacerbate civilian suffering and jeopardize regional stability. It emphasized the necessity of safeguarding Syria’s institutional framework to preserve its sovereignty and public order.

The movement further advocated for the initiation of a comprehensive Syrian national dialogue that transcends narrow interests and vengeful mindsets. Such dialogue, it argued, must prioritize national interest above all else to pave the way for meaningful reconciliation and bolster unity. The statement categorically rejected any foreign interference seeking to exploit Syria’s predicament for geopolitical gains.

Additionally, El Bina Movement condemned the recurrent Zionist attacks on Syrian territory, labeling them as violations of international law and an affront to Syria’s sovereignty. It called for a decisive international response to ensure Syria’s territorial integrity and to deter further aggression.

Urging political and social forces in Syria to rise above divisive rhetoric and animosity, El Bina Movement highlighted the critical importance of fostering national unity as a cornerstone for rebuilding a robust and stable Syria. It also called upon the Arab League to intensify efforts to preserve Syria’s territorial unity, provide support for reconstruction initiatives, and uphold the principles of democracy and justice.
