Algiers, Algeria | January 08th, 2025 — The Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production is spearheading the development of a comprehensive directory of professional competencies and a dedicated industrial network for accreditation and compliance, aiming to enhance Algeria’s industrial competitiveness on the global stage.

In a move to bolster Algeria’s industrial sector, the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production is focusing on the creation of an accreditation and compliance network, along with a professional competency directory. This initiative is a key component of the government’s strategy to develop a competitive and resilient national industry capable of meeting the challenges of the international market.

Establishing a Comprehensive Professional Competency Directory

A working session convened by the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Ghrieb, on Monday evening gathered the heads of various regulatory bodies under the Ministry’s oversight. The meeting’s objective was to lay the groundwork for both the professional competency directory and the industrial network dedicated to accreditation and compliance, according to a statement received by our editorial team. Minister Ghrieb emphasized that both initiatives aim to “stimulate the national industrial development while strengthening the competitiveness of Algerian enterprises.”

These efforts are built on a solid foundation of national expertise, combining logistics, industrial economics, and technical know-how. Minister Ghrieb highlighted that the development of the competency directory will serve as the cornerstone for the establishment of a fully integrated industrial network for accreditation and compliance. This network is designed to enhance the quality of domestic products and services, while simultaneously elevating Algeria’s competitive standards.

Ensuring Compliance with International Standards

A major goal of this network is to ensure that Algeria’s industrial products meet international standards, facilitating their exportation to global markets. Ghrieb elaborated that the network will function as a platform for intersectoral exchange and collaboration, creating a bridge between various industrial sectors and related regulatory bodies. It will serve as a hub for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices, thereby fostering synergy within the country’s industrial fabric.

The Minister further stressed the importance of conducting a thorough analysis of industrial markets, economic planning, and the development of effective production strategies. He underscored the urgency of adopting modern technologies to optimize industrial processes, enhance productivity, and reduce costs, all while ensuring sustainability and maintaining competitiveness.

Strengthening Algeria’s Industrial Competitiveness and Quality

“These measures are part of a broader strategy aimed at reinforcing the national industry, ensuring sustainable economic growth, and improving the competitiveness and quality of Algeria’s industrial outputs across all sectors,” the Minister stated.

Notably, the meeting was attended by key organizations that play an integral role in the country’s industrial and regulatory landscape. These included the Algerian Institute of Standardization (Ianor), the National Algerian Institute of Industrial Property (Inapi), the Algerian Accreditation Body (Algerac), the National Office of Legal Metrology (Onml), the Agency for the Development of SMEs and Innovation Promotion (Adpmepi), the Guarantee Fund for SME Credit (Fgar), the National Institute of Productivity and Industrial Development (Inped), the Great Academy of University Competencies (Gacu), the Technical Center for Agro-food Industries (Ctiaa), and the Technical Center for Mechanical and Metallurgical Industries (Cetime).

This strategic initiative reflects a firm commitment to shaping an industrial network that is not only competitive but also aligned with international norms, ensuring that Algeria’s industrial output is recognized and respected on the world stage.
