Traders, shoppers hail campaign to boycott French products, calling for their withdrawal from supermarket shelves (Dzair Tube TV coverage)

ALGIERS– Few days after the launch of the campaign calling for the boycott of French products across the country in protest at the provocative act of France; the secret and illegal exfiltration of an Algerian national whose presence on the national soil is considered necessary by a decision of the Algerian judiciary, Algerian traders hailed this step, calling for their withdrawal (French products) from supermarket shelves.
Asked by Dzair Tube TV on this campaign, a trader from Tipaza province praised the initiative. He noted that all French products in his shop “are untouched as Algerians rush to purchase Algerian products”, which are, as he stressed, “of the same quality”.
A shopper also commented saying: “I call for the boycott of all French products. We have Algerian products with high quality and competitive prices. I hate France and its President Emmanuel Macron who previously backed satirical outlets publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) (author note: referring to the move by Charlie Hebdo, a left-wing French magazine infamous for publishing anti-Islamic caricatures) and uttered irresponsible statements aimed at spreading a culture of hatred among peoples. Once again, his country violated the Algerian sovereignty. Any prejudice against Islamic belief, sanctities and symbols as well as our beloved country is totally unacceptable.”
The shopper praised President Tebboune’s far-sighted vision in dealing with these tensions, reiterating his full and unwavering support for him.

A social media campaign has been launched in Algeria, calling for the boycott of French products across the country. A wind of anger blows over France, or rather a cloud of rage that hovers over Algeria. Indeed, the recent malicious maneuvers of France, disrespecting the sovereignty of the Algerian justice and state, did not go unnoticed, thus, provoking Algerian Internet users to launch a campaign to boycott French products.
Activists have since announced their boycott of French products, launching a number of social media campaigns using viral hashtags in Arabic like #BoycottFrenchProducts, #WeAllBoycottFrenchProducts. A list of French brands to boycott is circulating on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
It is a campaign born at a time when the French barbouzes are no more hiding their intents but rather announcing them in public. They are about to achieve their objective which is reaching the point of no return in the Algerian-French relations.
A new episode of tense relations between Algeria and France is looming large as French diplomats and security personnel at the French embassy in Tunis secretly and illegally exfiltrated Bouraoui, despite the existence of an Algerian court subpoena against her.
The French goons went too far, and their insolence exceeded the limits of description, after the attribution of the title “the journalist” to Amira Bouraoui and her invitation to the public TV channels to “express herself” in a failed attempt to legitimize the crime they committed, namely; her exfiltration from Tunisia to France.
France resorted to the policy of double standards, as it took unilateral decisions that do not respect the sovereignty of the Algerian justice and state, criticizing and applying laws with discrimination and favoritism. We all remember the measure it took in 2021 by reducing by 50% the number of visas granted to Algeria due, according to it, to “the refusal” of the Maghreb countries to issue the consular passes necessary for the return of immigrants expelled from France, in a move that strikes the area of cooperation which requires trust and respect for the dignity of persons and the commitments adopted by the two governments. The irony is that the same country ‘France’, which had complained about the illegal immigration, and non-cooperation to solve the issue and curb the clandestine movement of people, is violating, this time, the cooperation and coordination treaties signed between the two countries in the field of justice, security and people’s movement.
A new gloom is expected in the relations between Algeria and France… the efforts deployed by the presidents of the two states to open up new horizons, declaring new and irreversible dynamic of progress in their nations’ ties, are falling apart!
The very unfriendly act threatens recently mended relations between Algeria and France which vowed to “build a new pact” following President Macron’s visit to Algeria a few months ago. This French policy – of one step forward and 10 steps back – throws cold water on bilateral relations a few weeks before the state visit President Tebboune is due to make to France.
In an official statement, the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune “firmly protested against the clandestine and illegal exfiltration of an Algerian citizen” via Tunisia to France. Mr. Tebboune had ordered ambassador Said Moussa to be recalled from Paris “with immediate effect”.
Noting that ties between the two countries had been frosty since autumn 2021, but warmed when Macron visited Algiers last August.
They witnessed unprecedented tensions after the provocative and irresponsible statements uttered by the Elysee Palace inmate Emmanuel Macron, who questioned the existence of an Algerian nation before the brutal French occupation of Algeria in 1830.
In his gaffe, France’s President Emmanuel Macron made critical remarks about Algeria, during a meeting with descendants of Harkis (people who fought with the French army against Algerian revolutionists).
Macron’s comments sparked anger among the Algerian officials and people. The Algerian Presidency of the Republic, which announced that it had summoned Algeria’s ambassador to Paris, Mohamed Antar Daoud, for consultations, took a second decision to close Algerian airspace to the French military warplanes, in response to these irresponsible and provocative statements by the French President Emmanuel Macron.
