ALGIERS-  The Minister of Transport, Youcef Chorfa, began, this Tuesday, a working visit to the province of Annaba where he will inspect several projects in his sector.

On the spot, the minister insisted, according to a press release from the wilaya of Annaba, on “accelerating work for the connection of terminal ‘E’ of the city airport to the new terminal”.

Youcef Chorfa, in the same context, called for the finalization of all modernization projects at Annaba airport, with the aim of opening new international lines.

It is, indeed, expected to transform the international airport of Annaba into a real air transport hub in the east of the country with the commissioning of these new infrastructures.

Annaba Airport “Rabah BITAT” is one of the oldest Algerian airports, since it was put into operation in 1939.

The airport has two runways. The first, in asphalt, with a length of 3,000 m and the second, in bituminous concrete, with a length of 2,290 m.

The terminal underwent renovation and expansion works which began in 2007 and ended in December 2015. The new terminal was inaugurated on March 9, 2016. The new terminal is intended to handle a flow of 700,000 passengers/year.
