Turkish Ambassador thanks President Tebboune for Algeria’s assistance, spirit of solidarity

ALGIERS- The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Mrs. Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, expressed, in her own name and on behalf of the Turkish government, her deep gratitude to the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune and to the Algerian people, for their support and solidarity with Turkey after the devastating earthquake that hit several Turkish and Syrian cities.
Underlining, during an audience granted to her by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ammar Belani, that the Turkish people, in particular President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, were very impressed by Algeria’s assistance as well as by the spirit of solidarity shown by the Algerian people, the Ambassador affirmed that “Turkey would never forget the fraternal attitude that Algeria showed during this painful ordeal”.
The Ambassador also wished to express her sincere thanks and congratulations to the Civil Protection personnel who took part in the rescue and relief operations in the areas affected by the earthquake. She praised the great professionalism they have shown and their valuable contribution to saving many lives.
On the occasion, Ammar Belani reiterated Algeria’s support and solidarity. During this meeting, many bilateral issues were discussed.
“Algeria’s solidarity with Turkey in these difficult circumstances is not only linked to humanitarian reasons and considerations but a duty dictated by the historical relations and the deep ties between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples”, underlined Ammar Belani.
In addition, it was agreed to strengthen the existing political dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries by intensifying mutual visits between the two countries and developing economic, technical and scientific cooperation. This cooperation will be extended to other areas.
It is also an opportunity to address important international and regional issues of common interest, in particular the Palestinian cause and the situation in the Sahel region and Western Sahara.
