Algiers, Algeria | June 23rd, 2024 — The Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Cevdet Yilmaz, began a two-day working visit to Algeria on Sunday. This visit aims to strengthen the robust bilateral relations between Algeria and Turkey, particularly in the economic sector.

Upon his arrival at Houari-Boumediene International Airport, Vice President Yilmaz was received by Algerian Prime Minister Mr. Nadir Larbaoui. Accompanying the Prime Minister were Minister of Energy and Mines Mr. Mohamed Arkab, Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs Ms. Kaouter Krikou, and Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion Mr. Tayeb Zitouni.

This visit underscores the “depth of Algerian-Turkish bilateral relations, which have experienced remarkable dynamism in recent years, particularly in economic sectors,” according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office. The framework for this cooperation has been established by the leaders of both nations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.

Turkey as Guest of Honor at the 55th FIA

An integral part of this visit is Turkey’s role as the guest of honor at the 55th edition of the Algiers International Fair (FIA), which begins on Monday. The presence of Vice President Yilmaz, along with his delegation, highlights the importance of this event in enhancing economic collaboration.

Delegation and Agenda

Vice President Yilmaz is accompanied by a significant ministerial delegation, including the Minister of Family and Social Services and the Minister of Commerce. Additionally, a number of Turkish business leaders and representatives from Turkish companies participating in the FIA and the Algerian-Turkish Business Forum will be present. This forum, set to commence on Monday, will be co-chaired by Minister Tayeb Zitouni and the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), alongside their Turkish counterparts.

The visit and the associated events are expected to further solidify the economic ties between Algeria and Turkey, providing a platform for dialogue, investment opportunities, and the exploration of new avenues for cooperation.

This significant engagement reflects the commitment of both nations to foster closer economic ties and build on the strong foundation laid by their respective leaders. The outcomes of these meetings and forums are anticipated to bring about mutually beneficial economic growth and development.
