ALGIERS- The United Nations Security Council has regrettably been unable to adopt a declaration regarding a much-needed humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

During a closed meeting held on Monday evening, the Security Council, acting as the executive body of the UN, convened for the third time in a month in an earnest attempt to broker a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict initiated by the involved parties in Gaza.

Following the meeting, Deputy US Ambassador to the UN, Robert Wood, addressed the media, expressing disappointment in the lack of agreement among the 15 Security Council members on this crucial matter.

“While the issue of a humanitarian ceasefire was indeed discussed during the Security Council meeting, it is disheartening to acknowledge that disagreements persist among the 15 members regarding this subject,” he declared.
