UN Security Council Votes for ‘Immediate Ceasefire’ in Gaza: Hamas Thanks Algeria for Support

ALGIERS- The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has welcomed the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Security Council on Monday of a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas expressed gratitude to Algeria and all nations supporting the Palestinian people for their relentless efforts to end Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Hamas declared its readiness to immediately engage in a prisoner exchange operation with the opposing parties. It emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, allowing for the withdrawal of all Zionist army soldiers from the Gaza Strip and facilitating the return of all Palestinian refugees to their homes.
Hamas stressed the necessity of granting Palestinians freedom of movement and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid to all areas of the Palestinian enclave. Additionally, it urged the entry of equipment into Gaza to remove debris, enabling the proper burial of Palestinians still trapped under rubble.
Furthermore, Hamas called on the Security Council to compel the Zionist entity to respect the ceasefire in Gaza and refrain from aggression against Palestinians. It reiterated Palestinians’ rights to establish an independent and sovereign state with El Quds as its capital, the right of return for refugees, and the right to self-determination, as well as the implementation of all UN resolutions.
