Algiers, October 30, 2023 – The University of Algiers 1, known as “Benyoucef Benkhedda,” has made a remarkable leap forward in its mission to become a significant partner in regional development. The institution proudly presented 14 invention patents and numerous startup projects, some of which have already garnered interest from economic enterprises. According to the University’s Rector, Fares Mokhtari, this represents a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Mokhtari shared the news in a statement to the APS news agency. He revealed, “The University of Algiers 1 has achieved a remarkable feat by unveiling 14 invention patents across various domains, along with 14 startup projects and 24 small businesses in this year alone. This includes 9 invention patents and several projects showcased during a recent study day, where the University collaborated with 24 economic enterprises, resulting in the approval of numerous promising initiatives.”
The core focus of these endeavors is to inspire both educators and students to explore research topics that are closely tied to socio-economic issues. The University aims to nurture an environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship among its students, supporting their potential and projects.
In pursuit of this goal, a liaison office has been established to facilitate cooperation between the University and economic enterprises. This office organizes study days where students have the opportunity to present innovative projects, highlighting their significance and proposed solutions.
Recent successes include the adoption of several student projects from all five faculties of the University. These achievements underscore the rich scientific and technical potential that the Algerian University possesses, capable of addressing the needs of economic enterprises effectively.
The University is also actively working on expanding its patent portfolio through its university projects incubator. This incubator intensifies training for project initiators who will subsequently have their proposals reviewed by specialized committees.
These efforts are geared toward reinvigorating research dynamics and providing scientifically grounded solutions to the challenges confronting economic enterprises. The University of Algiers 1 is poised to continue its journey as a beacon of innovation, supporting entrepreneurship and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
