Algiers, Algeria | July 8th, 2024 — Over 40 Vietnamese enterprises from various industries participated in the 55th Algiers International Fair 2024 (FIA), held in the Algerian capital from June 25-29. This robust participation highlights Vietnam’s dedication to expanding trade relations and fostering cultural exchanges with Algeria and the global community.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria, Trần Quốc Khánh, underscored the fair’s significance as a vital platform for bolstering trade ties not only between Vietnam and Algeria but also with other countries across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Ambassador Khánh emphasized that events like the FIA are crucial in promoting Vietnam’s image on the international stage.

Data from the Vietnam Trade Office in Algeria reveals that trade between Vietnam and Algeria reached US$250 million last year, a remarkable 68 percent increase from 2022. In the first four months of this year alone, trade volume was estimated at $95 million, reflecting a 5.5 percent year-on-year growth. Vietnam’s key exports to Algeria include agricultural products, unprocessed coffee beans, pangasius and basa fish fillets, and chemicals.

The five-day event featured nearly 700 companies, with 200 firms representing over 30 countries and territories. These participants spanned various sectors, such as energy, construction, agriculture, industry, services, mechanics, garment-textile, electronics, shipbuilding, aviation, environment, and education. The fair covered an expansive area of nearly 50,000 square meters and was expected to attract up to 400,000 visitors.

The enthusiastic participation of Vietnamese businesses at the FIA underscores the deepening economic partnership between Vietnam and Algeria, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual growth across multiple sectors.
