Weather Forecast: Algeria in grip of rains, heatwave as mercury soars to 44° in shade

ALGIERS- A heatwave will hit different provinces today, Thursday, May 11th, 2023, with temperatures reaching 44 degrees Celsius in the shade, as announced by the National Office of Meteorology in a special weather report (BMS).

The office issued a red alert for high temperatures as the mercury climbs to over 44 degrees Celsius in the shade in some parts of the south. Meanwhile, temperatures will oscillate between 21 and 30 degrees in the coastal areas and between 20 and 34 degrees in the interior provinces.

Bulletin validity: Daylong.

Besides, light to moderate-intensity rain would lash different eastern provinces of the country today, according to the special weather report (BMS).

The concerned provinces are: Souk Ahras, Bejaia, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Batna, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, and Khenchela.

Bulletin validity: From 06:00 until Friday at 03:00.
