Western Sahara: President Ghali receives Staffan de Mistura

The Saharawi president, secretary general of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, received on Sunday the personal envoy of the United Nations secretary general for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, at the headquarters of the presidency in Chahid El-Hafed (Rabouni).

The Saharawi president reaffirmed, during talks with the UN envoy, the position of the Polisario Front in favor of a fair and equitable solution, capable of guaranteeing the Saharawi people their right to self-determination and full independence, as enshrined in the UN and African resolutions and agreements signed by the two parties (Polisario Front and Morocco) in 1991, under which the UN Mission (Minurso) was created to oversee the organization of the referendum.

On his arrival at the seat of the Sahrawi presidency, Staffan de Mistura was given an official welcome.
