ALGIERS– Algeria will reopen its embassy in Kiev, capital of Ukraine, as of next week, announced the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a periodic interview with representatives of the national media, broadcast Friday evening.
The Algerian diplomatic representation in kyiv has been closed since February 25, 2022 due to the war.
President Tebboune, who answered a question about his visit to Russia, scheduled for next May, and the possibility of proposing a solution to the Ukrainian crisis, indicated that Algerian diplomacy is “silent diplomacy”, thereby announcing the decision to reopen the Algerian Embassy in Kiev.
And to add: “A decision was taken with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, to reopen as of next week the Algerian Embassy in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, after its closure for security reasons,” he said.
Referring to relations with Russia, the President of the Republic indicated that these relations are “known to all”, dubbing relations with Ukraine as “ordinary”.
