Youcef Aouchiche in Bejaia: “The Time for Change Has Come!”

Algiers, Algeria | September 1st, 2024 — In a packed hall at the Bejaia Regional Theater, Youcef Aouchiche, the Front of Socialist Forces (FFS) candidate for the upcoming presidential election, passionately declared that “the time for change has come,” expressing a deep sense of hope as he looks toward the approaching elections.

Aouchiche addressed critics who question the FFS’s decision to participate in the election, firmly stating, “We are not among those who believe that the outcome is predetermined. We want to build a united, reconciled Algeria, proud of its history and rich in cultural diversity.” He emphasized that achieving this vision requires a strong voter turnout on election day.

“We can bring about change, but it won’t happen on its own,” Aouchiche warned, concluding with a call to action: “The ball is in your court.” Throughout his speech, Aouchiche defended the core principles of his platform, which include political and institutional reforms aimed at establishing a “democratic state” in line with the aspirations of Algeria’s founding leaders, as well as the economic development of the nation.
