Algiers, Algeria | November 24th, 2024 —  In a charged and historic gathering in Algiers on Saturday, the National Rif Party convened to mark the inaugural “Rif Day” conference, a groundbreaking event titled “The Republic of the Rif and the Quest for Independence.” The conference highlighted the enduring struggle of the Rifian people for sovereignty while casting light on Algeria’s unparalleled role in supporting liberation movements.

Amidst a deeply symbolic atmosphere, Yuba El-Ghadioui, President of the National Rif Party, delivered a heartfelt tribute to Algeria and its influential media outlet, Dzair Tube. In his statement, he expressed profound gratitude for the channel’s unwavering support for the Rifian cause, describing it as a “platform for the voiceless” and an essential ally in the fight for justice.

Dzair Tube: A Channel of Solidarity and Advocacy
In a declaration, El-Ghadioui lauded Dzair Tube for its critical role in amplifying the voices of oppressed communities and bringing attention to marginalized narratives. He described his personal connection with the channel as one of mutual respect and shared purpose, stating:

“Dzair Tube has been a platform for the Rifians since the beginning of their revolution. As a Rifian, I am proud of this channel, and I wish it continued success. It is a beacon of hope for those without a voice, and I have no doubt it will become a platform for Rifians and their cause in the days to come.”

A Historic Day for the Rifian Struggle
The conference centered on the historical significance of the Republic of the Rif, which was established in 1921 under the leadership of Mohamed Ben Abdelkrim El-Khattabi. El-Ghadioui described the Republic as a trailblazing entity in North Africa’s quest for self-determination, noting that it fell victim to colonial conspiracies and internal betrayals. He emphasized that the Republic’s fall was not an end but the beginning of an enduring struggle for sovereignty.

Algeria: A Pillar of Resistance
The event underscored Algeria’s moral and historical commitment to supporting liberation movements. El-Ghadioui referred to Algeria as the “capital of freedom fighters,” highlighting its unwavering solidarity with the Rifian cause. He expressed gratitude for Algeria’s role as a host nation for this pivotal gathering, describing it as a “second homeland for the Rifian people.”

The gathering featured a diverse lineup of attendees, including international representatives from South Africa, Mozambique, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, as well as Algerian lawmakers and activists. This broad participation underscored the global resonance of the Rifian struggle.

Vision for the Future
El-Ghadioui outlined a forward-looking strategy for the Rif movement, which includes internationalizing the cause and pursuing diplomatic and legal channels under the auspices of the UN and African Union. His closing words echoed with determination:

“We will walk upon the sacred soil of the Rif when it is freed from the shackles of the Alaouite monarchy, just as our forefathers did over a century ago.”

A Platform for Justice and Freedom
Dzair Tube’s role in covering this historic event further solidified its reputation as a platform for justice and freedom. The channel’s dedication to the Rifian cause exemplifies its broader commitment to shedding light on issues of liberation and sovereignty. As El-Ghadioui affirmed, Dzair Tube is not just a media outlet—it is a beacon of hope and a powerful tool in the fight for justice.

The conference concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, setting the stage for further efforts to dismantle colonial legacies and reclaim stolen sovereignty. Through the combined efforts of Algeria, Dzair Tube, and the Rifian diaspora, the dream of independence for the Republic of the Rif continues to inspire generations.
