Industry Minister discusses opportunities for bilateral partnership with Tunisian counterpart

The Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zeghdar examined, Monday in Algiers, with the Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines, Naila Nouira Gongi, industrial potential and opportunities of the bilateral partnership between Algeria and Tunisia, a statement from the ministry said.

According to the same source, Zeghdar received at the ministry headquarters, Gongi who is on a working visit to Algeria.

The audience focused on Algerian-Tunisian cooperation in the industrial sector and the prospects for its consolidation, in the light of “the great dynamics” experienced by the “excellent and deep” relations between the two “brotherly” States and the visits high-level officials exchanged, the statement added.

The two parties also reviewed, on the occasion, the industrial potential in the two countries and the opportunities of the fruitful bilateral partnership in several fields and the industrial subsidiaries, headed by the agro-food and processing industry, the electrical industries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as the development of technological poles, indicates the ministry.

The two parties also pleaded for the consolidation of institutional cooperation between the two ministries in charge of Industry in the two countries, particularly with regard to the promotion of investment, standardization, certification according to standards, metrology and industrial property.

As such, the two parties have agreed to reactivate the agreements concluded on both sides and whose implementation has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we read in the press release.

The two officials further agreed to accelerate the development of business zones in the common border regions and to provide the infrastructure and the ecosystem which are essential to them and which “will have a positive impact for the two countries. and economic operators”.

After highlighting the new investment legal system, Mr. Zeghdar reaffirmed “Algeria’s desire to intensify and expand the areas of cooperation, partnership and investment at the institutional level and at the businessmen’s level.

For her part, the Tunisian minister called for “intensifying meetings between delegations and businessmen in the two countries, with a view to exploiting opportunities for possible bilateral cooperation and partnership”.
