Zionist police on Friday morning attacked the funeral cortege of Al-Jazeera TV reporter Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was martyred on Wednesday after being fired upon by occupation forces in Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the agency reported. Palestinian press, WAFA.
Zionist police cordoned off Saint Joseph Hospital, where Shireen Abu Akleh’s body is kept, erecting barricades at the entrances to the hospital and along the roads where his funeral procession passes, prohibiting the passage of Palestinian vehicles or pedestrians , said WAFA.
The heavily armed occupation forces then stormed the hospital premises and attacked dozens of mourners who were shouting slogans condemning the occupation and raising Palestinian flags.
Images broadcast by Palestinian television show the coffin of the reporter for the Qatari channel, nearly falling to the ground as Zionist police disperse the crowd.
“Brutal special forces (Zionists) attack the funeral procession of Shireen Abou Akleh leaving Saint-Joseph hospital”, denounced on Twitter Hanane Achraoui, a former tenor of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
Shireen Abu Akleh’s coffin was finally transported to the Old City where a mass was celebrated in a church, before burial in a nearby cemetery.
Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, 51, was executed in cold blood Wednesday morning by Zionist occupation army fire while she was covering clashes in the Jenin area, Wafa reported. She wore a bulletproof vest marked “Presse” during the exercise of her mission.
The assassination of Shireen Abu Aqleh continues to draw strong Palestinian, Arab and international condemnation.
