Algiers, Algeria | October 24th, 2024 — Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, visited the Baladna factory in Doha on Wednesday, highlighting the expanding economic collaboration between Algeria and Qatar. This visit, part of his official trip to Qatar, underscored the growing ties in investment and trade, as noted by a statement from the ministry.
During his visit, the leadership at Baladna presented an in-depth overview of the factory’s cutting-edge technologies, its production capabilities, and its key role in meeting Qatar’s local market needs. The minister was also briefed on Baladna’s ambitious integrated project in Algeria’s Adrar province, which he lauded as a testament to the robust relationship between the two countries. Zitouni emphasized that this project is a significant milestone in enhancing the economic partnership between Algeria and Qatar.
Minister Zitouni praised the state-of-the-art technologies utilized at Baladna and expressed Algeria’s satisfaction with such investments, viewing them as a symbol of the solid economic relations between the two nations. He attributed these successes to the economic reforms driven by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which have cultivated an inviting environment for foreign investments and collaboration.
At the end of his visit, Zitouni emphasized Baladna’s critical role in fostering economic cooperation between Algeria and Qatar and expressed hope for further fruitful partnerships in the future.
As part of his visit, Zitouni also toured the Algerian Products Exhibition in Doha, engaging with representatives of the 150 participating Algerian companies. He expressed optimism about the exhibition’s success among Qatari visitors and investors, highlighting that such events are invaluable in expanding bilateral cooperation and business ventures.
Zitouni pointed out the importance of direct sales, allowing Qatari and international consumers to easily access Algerian products. He emphasized that this inaugural exhibition in Qatar is a major step in fortifying economic ties and praised the collaborative efforts between Algerian and Qatari companies in promoting industrial and commercial partnerships.
In an interview with Qatari media, Zitouni stressed that his visit reflects the shared commitment of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to deepen fraternal relations between the two nations. He voiced confidence that this cooperation would see sustained development in the near future.
Moreover, on Wednesday, Minister Zitouni presided over the opening of the Algerian-Qatari Business Forum, which was held in parallel with the Algerian Products Exhibition. Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), emphasized that the forum would uncover new sectors for cooperation and strengthen the bonds between economic players in both countries. Moula also noted the positive changes in Algeria’s business climate, attributing them to ongoing reforms and efforts to diversify the national economy.
This visit marks a pivotal chapter in the evolving Algerian-Qatari economic partnership, laying a foundation for deeper cooperation and shared prosperity in the years ahead.
