Ahmed Brahimi, President of El Baraka Association, Discusses Gaza Aid Challenges in Dzair Tube Interview

ALGIERS- Ahmed Brahimi, the President of El Baraka Association, highlighted the challenges faced in maintaining communication with members in Gaza due to the precarious security situation prevailing in the region. He emphasized the association’s unwavering commitment to supporting Palestinians in Gaza, despite the obstacles.
In an interview with Dzair Tube, Brahimi emphasized the crucial role of ongoing efforts to gather donations and financial aid for those enduring hardship in Gaza.

Q: What role has the Algerian El Baraka Association played in Gaza since the onset of the Zionist aggression six months ago?
A: The El Baraka Association has been actively involved in Gaza for over two decades. We maintain an established office there, with 3,000 volunteers collaborating with the association across Gaza, El Quds, the West Bank, and Palestine at large. Amidst the ongoing Zionist aggression, we directed all our aid efforts towards Gaza. We have erected 12 shelters across 60 camps, providing up to 500,000 hot meals daily, distributing water, food parcels, and sacrificial animals. Additionally, we have supplied approximately 10,000 tents, some of which are named in memory of our martyrs, as a tribute to their sacrifice.
Q: Many people in Gaza are curious about the association’s whereabouts and how to reach out amidst these challenging circumstances. What message do you have for them?
A: Given the destruction and security concerns in the region, clear addresses for the association are no longer available for visitation. However, there are camps and centers affiliated with us that individuals can locate and approach. Due to security issues and disrupted communication networks, we cannot provide specific phone numbers or addresses. Nevertheless, the El Baraka Association maintains a presence throughout Gaza, extending from north to Rafah.
Q: How would you characterize the situation in Gaza during Ramadan?
A: After enduring 170 days of relentless bombings, destruction, food shortages, displacement, and disturbing incidents, such as recent cases of rape, particularly in the Al-Shifa hospital compound, the situation in Gaza during Ramadan is dire. This suffering unfolds amidst international inaction and silence, despite the presence of international organizations that have failed to halt this ongoing massacre.
Q: What challenges are encountered in delivering aid to our people in Gaza during Ramadan, and how is the association addressing them?
A: Importing goods faces obstacles as all crossings are currently controlled by the Zionist entity. Nonetheless, the association employs its own channels and methods to provide assistance to Gazans. The primary hurdles lie in the exorbitant prices of goods. Hence, intensified aid efforts are imperative. There is no justification for withholding support; solidarity with the Palestinian people is a moral imperative during these trying times. It is incumbent upon us all to stand by them in their struggle for survival.
